iPhone 15 Pro Max Ordering Experience & Excitements
On Sep 15, 2023, I got up early and sat at my computer with bated breath, patiently waiting to order my new iPhone 15 Pro Max on Verizon’s Website. It took a few moments to review the new iPhone colors and options and then entered my phone details, being ready to hit the order now button, which I could not do till exactly 8:00 AM Eastern Time.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is offered in white titanium, natural titanium, blue titanium, and black titanium, and I chose the blue titanium with 512GB of storage. My previous phone was an iPhone 13 Pro Max with 256GB and 106GB available, so deciding to double my memory based on my current usage made sense.
Challenges Faced While Ordering the iPhone 15 Pro Max
Ordering my phone took about 15 minutes as their site was not cooperating and kept sending me to the iPhone 15 Plus page when I wanted the iPhone 15 Pro Max. After placing my order, I noticed their system took the ending part of my address line and repeated it in front.
Also, the site was not adequately tested for this big launch as they didn’t have the SKU in their system to allow anyone to order a phone with 1TB unless it was black, which was corrected a day later.
Technical Glitches and Customer Support Frustrations
I was disappointed because I thought they would have taken time to test it, but it was clear that there was no planning to ensure a seamless, pleasant checkout experience.
When I did message someone, it was a waste of time as I was told I had to call an 800 number. Why do they even have a chat on the site if they can’t help me or answer my order questions?
Stock Situation: Limited Availability and Delivery Delays
As soon as my order was complete, they only had fifteen phones left, and just 30 minutes after I had checked out, they had no more in stock. This meant the delivery would be in early October for any iPhones ordered that day.
Now, if anyone orders an iPhone 15, there is a minimum of four weeks, thus putting us into late October or potentially November if further delays occur. Therefore, if you have never purchased an Apple Product, you will soon learn that the early bird gets the phone or may take weeks after your pre-order.
Exploring the iPhone 15 Series: Design, Display, and Camera Features
The iPhone 15 series innovation can be described as something another phone already has or something eco-friendly for the environment. First, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are available in weird green, pink, black, blue, and yellow.
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have different color palettes: black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium, and natural titanium. The iPhone 15 and 15 Pro have a 6.1” OLED Screen, and the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max both have a 6.7” OLED Screen.
All iPhone 15 series phones have a pixel density of 460 PPI (pixels per inch) and come loaded with iOS 17; the camera on the back of these models has 48 megapixels for comprehensive use to take most pictures. The series has a front-facing camera that supports 12 megapixels for the ultrawide camera, f/1.9, and 4K Video Capture. iPhone 15 Pro also has a 3x telephoto lens, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 5x telephoto lens.
Unveiling the iPhone 15 Series: A Closer Look at Processor Performance
Under the hood, you will find that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have the older A16 chip, while the iPhone Pro and iPhone Max Pro have the new A17 chip. Apple’s new A17 chip has a 6-core CPU containing two performance and four efficiency cores, a new 6-core GPU(Graphics Processing Unit), and a new 16-core neural engine.
Storage Options and Materials: Customizing Experience
Regarding memory, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus may be ordered with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB, while the iPhone 15 Pro is also configurable with 1TB of storage. Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max supports only 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB only.
Apple built the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max with lightweight aerospace-grade titanium, which makes it lightweight and more durable, and the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are made with only stainless steel.
The iPhone 15 Series Adopts the New Charging Port Standard
The new iPhone 15 series devices have a USB-C charging port instead of the legacy lightning port, which they stated was the natural standard to adopt. Interestingly enough, they did indicate if it had anything to do with the new USB-C law, which requires this type of connector as the new charging port standard for new phones and many mobile devices, which takes effect Dec 28, 2024.
In the Box: iPhone 15 Series Accessories and USB Transfer Speeds
Inside the box is the iPhone, a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, which is usually woven, and a small square document pouch with an Apple Logo sticker. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus support USB 2.0 to handle up to 480 Mbps, and the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will allow transfers up to 500 Mbps or 5 Gbps, which is USB 3.0 standard.
However, you won’t get with the standard cable in the box. Thus, another cable must be ordered for the two USB specification types to enjoy the fastest speeds available.
Thankfully, Apple has made this series of phones with a more accessible back panel, which will take less time and money to repair.
Introducing the Action Button: The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
Are you tired of scrambling for that switch to silence your ringer? Then, you will be happy to hear that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have an action button. This new button replaces that side switch with a button that can be pressed to silence your ringer and even assign many valuable functions, such as having it load your preset camera or video settings and then just one touch after to take a picture or start a video.
Depress the action button until the haptic vibration system sends three short pulses indicating your phone's ringer has been silenced. Press that button quickly and instantly see an icon on the phone to confirm this status. Hold that action button until you feel a single pulse, letting you know your ringer is back on.
Reviving the Dynamic Island Feature: Enhanced Functionality in the iPhone 15 Series
Dynamic Island feature was first rolled out with the iPhone 14 Pro, and now they are emphasizing it again on the entire iPhone 15 series. The dynamic island allows one to use specific applications such as a timer, control phone calls, Apple Map Directions, Play Music, Visualize Air drop progress, authenticate Apple Pay, and many others from third-party software after the app is closed.
For example, Apple introduced privacy indicators, which will show up orange, which means the microphone is on, and green, indicating the camera is being used.
Water Resistance and MagSafe Charging in the iPhone 15 Series
All iPhones in the 15 are IP68 rated, meaning they are water resistant in fresh water up to 1.5 meters or 4.9 Ft for up to 30 minutes and defend against dust. Also, iPhones in this series have a modified wireless charging system called MagSafe.
MagSafe technology employs rings of magnets around the charging coil inside the device. They support the new open standard that, as of today, has been fully ratified called Qi2, which will allow users to quickly charge their devices without having to find that sweet spot needed in the past.
Affordable Screen Repairs: Cost Savings with the iPhone 15 Series
Everyone I talked to as always, shared that they were annoyed with the price tag associated with fixing a cracked screen on the iPhone. On the iPhone 14 Pro, it is $499 tax, but on the iPhone 15 Pro, it is only $169.99 + Tax.
Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro Max is $549.00 + Tax, and on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the cost is just $199.99. Apple has made some design changes that allow the glass and logic board to be removed separately, making repairs much less.
iPhone 15 Series Pricing and Availability: What to Expect When Ordering
If you have not ordered your iPhone 15 and placed the order today, plan to wait at least 4-5 weeks before it will be delivered. Now, the cost of the iPhone 15 (128 GB) is $799.00 with (256 GB) $899.00 + Tax (512 GB) $1099.00 + Tax. The iPhone 15 Plus (128 GB) is $899.00, and the (256 GB) is $999.00 + Tax.
If you want the iPhone Pro (128 GB), expect to pay $999.00 + Tax, (256 GB) 1099.00 + Tax, and with (512 GB) $1299.9, and with (1 TB) $1499.99 + Tax. Venturing for the iPhone Pro Max (256 GB) $1199.99, (512 GB) $1399.00, and with (1 TB), plan on spending $1599.99 + Tax.
There are many models to choose from, but if you want to take advantage of the new action button, always on display, a lighter phone, and end the frustration of my ringer on or off, order the iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Smooth Transition to Your New iPhone: Tips and Steps to Follow
Inevitably, Apple has put considerable R&D into developing eco-friendliness and more listened to feedback from many of its customers. The iPhone Pro & iPhone Pro Max were designed to be a better fit for graphics and gaming.
Before upgrading your phone please remember to do a few things: 1) backup your phone, 2) Update your old phone if it is new enough to the latest 7.01 iOS, 3) Backup your profile to iCloud as an extra precaution, 4) Connect your new phone to WiFi. Once you get your new phone, activate it as usual and choose Apple’s Direct Transfer method.
Next, remember to select the option to approve it on your old phone; then sit and be patient for the transfer. Ensure you have a full charge on both phones or plug them in to prevent issues during the transfer.
